A little over a year ago I received a game from Australia that looked pretty cool.  I first played Lucidity on Mother's Day weekend and almost fell in love with it.  It was just a tiny bit too random and felt like there was just not enough control.  It's a game about learning to control your dreams, so some randomness is expected, but as you become a better dreamer, some control seemed thematic and more fun.  So I worked with the designer and came up with a method of introducing re-rolls to the game and all of a sudden this rocketed up from an OK game to one of my favorite Kickstarter previews.

Then came the Kickstarter campaign.  Lucidity knocked it out of the park!  It was wildly successful and stretch goal after stretch goal kept getting added to the game.  The result was that the De-Lux edition had so much extra stuff in it that it needed it's own box!  There are extra neoprene player mats, acrylic overlays, alternate family-friendly artwork, extra dice, and three small expansions included in the De-Lux edition (Bone Hunters, Manifestations, and Dreamscapes).  The base game is packed with stuff, too, including a fifth Nightmare, alternate Nightmare artwork on the backs of all the Nightmare cards, a solo mode, and mini art prints of each Nightmare.  With all this extra stuff, Lucidity became one of my most anticipated games of this year.  I couldn't wait to get my copy of the game.  When it arrived there were even more surprises, too!  This is the first time I've received a Kickstarter game shipped in its very own printed box.  That's right, even the shipping box is an omen of the nightmares inside!

I am now super excited to be sharing an unboxing of Lucidity: Six-Sided Nightmares - DeLux Edition with all of you.  If you'd like your own copy of the game, you're in luck.  Renegade Games picked up the game and it should be available in a FLGS near you, although only the base game is available, not the De-Lux Edition.  For that you'll have to get lucky at a convention or contact Fox Tale Games since it won't be available in retail (at least not any time soon that I know of).
