Press Release: Planet Unknown is launching on Kickstarter April 7th, 2020.

Planet Unknown: A new game from the creators of Swordcrafters and the Truck Off series is launching on Kickstarter April 7th, 2020.

Adam's Apple Games is back on Kickstarter seeking funding for an out-of-this-world game.  Planet Unknown is a competitive medium weight tile placement game that puts players in the role of planeteers tasked with developing planets for the future of humanity.  A unique, lazy-susan-style component allows players to draft polyomino tiles simultaneously, minimizing downtime so that 1 to 6 players can play in 70 minutes no matter the player count.  Players cleverly draft and place tiles to build out their planet and maximize their personal planet’s engine.  

Each game, players will pair together a player board and planet.  One side of each board and planet is symmetrical to make teaching and learning easy.  The other side of each board and planet is asymmetrical allowing for 49 unique combinations to explore.  Each round, the mission leader will strategically rotate the space station in the middle of the table.  Each player will draft and place a tile on their planet.  Based on the tile drafted and the placement, players will move up tracks on their player board to unlock milestones, rovers, synergies, and technology.  Interaction between players is created through the draft mechanic, the race for civilization milestones, and end game goal cards that are unique only between neighboring players.

Planet Unknown has been in development for several years and has been play tested at ProtoSpiel Minnesota and Madison, with additional blind play tests locally, and previewed at Gen Con and Essen 2019.  The Kickstarter campaign will feature a limited deluxe version of the game with several upgrades planned throughout the campaign.  A full, scripted module has been released on Tabletop Simulator for anyone to play and try the game.  Adams Apple Games staff is available to teach for 4-5 days per week for a couple of hours per day and will be organizing play through the Kickstarter page, Calendly, and Discord.
